Coffee Camera

The largest technical aspect of my art work is myself. The main point in the picture is me. The technical aspect could be improved by making it more clear. When taking the picture with the can it must have moved a little causing the picture to be a little blurry. It was easy to take the negative and make it a positive by putting the negative on the photography paper and using the enlargers on 3.5 wide, for fifteen seconds, and a 2.5 filter. It was difficult to get the perfect lighting for the coffee can. If it was brighter you might need to open the lens for less time or if there is not enough light you might need to open it longer. I demonstrated this by using a coffee that had a tiny hole in the side of it with a piece of tape covering it. The entire can was black and did not let any light in. We took the can outside placing it on a stool about three feet away from the person. Another person took the tape off the can for 30 seconds with a piece of photography paper set inside it. When the paper was exposed to light it was focused on the person so when we ran the paper through the chemicals our image appeared. Taking the negative we made it a positive by using the enlarger and also running it through the chemicals. If I were to do this project again I would make sure the person held the coffee cup still and I stayed as still as I could while the paper was being exposed to light. I enjoyed this project even though it took a lot of patience and test strips it really worked.

  1. You have the patience of a saint and your 10 test strips prove it!!! Great job trouble shooting to get the full range of values in both the negative and positive coffee canmera image.
